CASTELFOLLIT DE LA ROCA

The spectacular location of Castelfollit makes it a magnificent natural vantage point, from where you can see the valleys of the rivers Fluvià and Toronell. The municipality is also the entrance door to one of Catalonia’s most important green spaces: the Nature Park of the Volcanic Area of Garrotxa.

On top of an immense basalt cliff we can make out the silhouette of the town of Castellfollit, with the houses touching the edge of the cliff and the bell tower of the church of Sant Salvador (13th century). This is one of the country’s most photographed and painted images.

VOLCANIC ZONE & NATURAL PARK

The Fageda d’en Jordà is a stunning forest of beech trees, which forms part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, and its landscapes that have been the source of inspiration for many artists will also enchant and captivate all visitors who come here.

The Fageda d'en Jordà is one of the 26 nature reserves that form part of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, extending across the municipalities of Santa Pau, Olot and Les Preses.

It is a stunning forest of beech trees growing on lava flow from the Croscat Volcano and which are to be found at a much lower elevation than usual for this type of tree.

09.15: meeting point Plaza d'Espanya

09:30: buses move! BE ON TIME!

11:30 We get to Castelfollit de la Roca

11:30 a 12:30: Spare time to visit the village and have a breakfast. Buy food to eat later because at the volcanic area there arent restaurants

13:00: We arrive to Fageda Parc and start our walk to Volcanic zone

17:00: Meeting point at the bus, is time to get back to Barcelona!

19:30: we arrive at Barcelona.
